Roy Jackson
Roy Jackson was born in London in 1944 and emigrated with his family to Australia in the late 1950s.
After studies at the National Art School, Sydney, Jackson returned to the United Kingdom in 1961 and began studying at the Sutton School of Art, London. Between the years 1962 and 1965 Jackson attended the Wimbledon College of Art, London graduating with a National Diploma in Design (Painting).
Having exhibited since the late 1960s in influential galleries including Watters Gallery, Sydney and Michael Milburn Gallery, Brisbane, Jackson’s work was curated in the 2003 exhibition The Way of the Brush curated by the War Memorial Gallery, The University of Sydney which focused on the work of three artists - Ian Fairweather, Tony Tuckson, and Jackson.
The artist’s work is represented in numerous collections including the National Gallery of Australia, National Gallery of Victoria, Art Gallery of Western Australia, Artbank, New England Regional Art Museum, Maitland City Art Gallery, and the Campbelltown Bicentennial Art Gallery.
