Ryan Daffurn was born in Brisbane in 1983. He began his training with artists Kay Kane and Christine Kirkegaard, then relocated to Sydney to attend the Julian Ashton Art School.

In 2008, Ryan won the prestigious AME Alice Bale Travelling Scholarship which enabled him to undertake an international study tour.

From mid-2015, Ryan has travelled extensively and been involved in many exhibitions and residency opportunities in Europe including at the influential Spinnerei complex in Leipzig, Germany.

Currently the artist lives between Leipzig, Vienna and Brisbane.
